We’re Booth #4500 at San Diego Comic-Con

Dear Gentle Readers,

If anyone wants to pay me a visit in person, I’ll be in Booth #4500 at San Diego Comic-Con this year. I co-authored my husband’s new book, “ROLLING THUNDER: THE ART OF DAVE DORMAN” – 5 pounds and 312 pages of memoir, Dave’s luscious art and fun captions. I’m rather proud that I got it done in a week’s time – that’s one of the  tightest deadlines I’ve ever met. We are donating 10% of the proceeds from this book to, which gives back to financially challenged military families. As many of you know, Dave is a USAF military brat, so this is an ideal charity for us. The book will be in all major bookstore retailers nationwide as of August. If you are interested in pre-ordering, it’s available on; the “normal” hardcover version is $49.99 and the 300 signed, limited edition versions are $79.99. For those of you buying up the book, a heartfelt thank you! For those of you not buying up dozens of copies of the book, what’s the opposite of “Above Me”?

Dave is a “special guest” at San Diego Comic-Con this year, which is great because we get passes that allow us access to the green room for panel discussions – GLEE, TRUE BLOOD and WEEDS will all be there, plus author CHARLAINE HARRIS – cannot WAIT to check it all out. Our friend Joe plays werewolf Alcide Herveaux on TRUE BLOOD, so we’re looking forward to catching up with him.

Don’t be surprised if you find actor/all-around crazy person Pauly Shore in our booth on Thursday – he has numerous media interviews lined up and needed a place to land, so I offered up some space.

I will also be exhibiting with Dave at Star Wars Celebration 5 (aka SWC5) this year – I will post the Booth # here as soon as I can. That show runs August 12th -15th in Orlando. His concept for the Star Wars limited edition litho he does this year is AMAZING. That’s all I’m allowed to say as I’m under non-disclosure with Lucasfilm.

In the meantime, stay tuned to my blog for more of my crazy stories. I’m still debating whether or not to share some of them…but I think I will. Someday when I’m gone, I want my son to have access to the unlikely, madcap adventure that has been my life.

BOOKS YOU MUST CHECK OUT: For those of you who love great vampire/horror/dark fantasy fiction, pick up Charlaine Harris’ series of SOOKIE STACKHOUSE stories, on which the hot HBO TV series TRUE BLOOD is based – they are WONDERFUL. I read them all in a week’s time – I’m hooked!

Also, pick up the Stieg Larsson trio – The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest. I powered through those 3 books over 4th of July weekend and am actually sad and homesick that I’m done reading them, they were SO good.

Be sure to check out Kristin Chenoweth’s bio, A LITTLE WICKED. It was really a lot of fun. Bios are my other favorite guilty pleasure.

Right now I’m still reading JONATHAN STRANGE AND MR. NORRELL. God, that book is TEDIOUS, but I’m determined to slog through it. I’m also reading PAULA: A Memoir by Isabelle Allende – it’s wonderful.

As always, check out our podcast, “It’s Comic Book Day.” It’s a free download on iTunes, with news, reviews and interviews in the pop culture, comics and art world. Let me know how you like it (and of course, you WILL like it since I’m the one holding the Smith & Wesson here.)

Until our next encounter, be well.
