Some Smart Feedback on the FTC Blogger Ruling

In Uncategorized on April 15, 2009 at 1:00 am

Sharing with you (with permission) what one of my wise master-mind group friends thought of the new ruling:

Why just target parenting blogs? The FTC should extend this policy to any blogger compensated to review products or services. And, they ought to think about regulation any “anti-” or “I hate…” site, since damn near every one of them violates intellectual property rights as well as frequently straying into libelous territory. I’m thinking more of Wal-Mart, but I will say that I think the Consumerist blog is a heaping pile of whale dung. I just don’t think it is OK for sites to throw up some cockamamie story without verifying it first – because if it proves to not be true, these blogs never recant them or remove them.

I’m generally for as little regulation from the government as possible, but until there is a pill that makes people smart enough to question the legitimacy of what they read on the Internet …
